Ormond Road East Geelong for Homes Victoria was opened by The Honourable Nick Staikos, Minister for Housing Building and Precincts, and Christine Couzens MP.

The project provides 54 one-, 2- and 3-bedroom social housing homes. An uplift of 36 homes or triple the amount of social housing has been provided at Ormond Road for people on the Victorian Housing Register.
Not-for-profit community housing provider Women’s Housing Limited will manage the Ormond Road homes for residents, supporting them to build community and maintain long-term tenancies. Each home has its own private outdoor courtyard or balcony, and access to shared facilities like a barbecue, gardens and community spaces.

This housing project was delivered through the Big Housing Build.

Over the Open House Melbourne weekend Density Done Well will be exhibited at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. Tarakan Street Social Housing, by NH Architecture and Bird de la Coeur Architects is included.

Hosted by the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects, the exhibition showcases 36 exemplary housing projects designed by architects from across Melbourne. The exhibition tackles the housing challenges facing Victoria and demonstrates how well-designed density can provide private amenity for residents and public amenity for communities. Curated by the Chapter's Housing Committee.

Construction begins on 54 social housing apartments in 3 new buildings as part of the Victorian Government's Big Housing Build. MP Christine Couzens and the team from Homes Vic with NH Architecture and Alchemy Construction attended the sod turning ceremony. We've worked with NH to design longevity into the one-, two- and three-bedroom dwellings by designing flexibility into the apartment configurations, catering for expanding and contracting families. Bedrooms can be allocated to those who need them, allowing people to start a family and increase the size of their apartment or conversely contract apartment size and age in place.
